There are about 9,000 species of Annelids known today, including worms and leeches. They can be found almost anywhere in the world. Annelids have existed on Earth for over 120 million years.

Annelids have bodies that are divided into segments. They have very well-developed internal organs. One common characteristic of annelids is that they don't have any limbs.

Some annelids may have long bristles. Others have shorter bristles and seem smooth, like the earthworm shown here.

Worms live in dark because soil is dark under it. Earthworms swallow soil as they burrow, and digest any edible matter. They can grow up to 30cm ( 12in).

Leeches

Most of leeches live in fresh water.
Leeches have been used in medicine to blood from patients.
Leeches are 'worms' with suckers on each end.
Leeches can range in size from a half of inch to ten inches long.
They are brown or black in colour.
Some feed on decaying plant material. Others are parasites, feeding on blood and tissue of other animals.
Leeches can not be good for humans if the humans try to rip the leeches off the blood will come pouring out!!
